Having already built the Fields Club for the same client, the second project—the Piccadilly Clubhouse—firmly establishes the developer’s brand promise of providing a holistic living and leisure environment.
The atrium holds a large, industrial, sculptural staircase that winds at odd angles across the four floors, creating mezzanines and bridges along its path. Drawn up in conversation with it, is an expansive artwork on the singular atrium wall that extends across the entire height, setting the mood of the clubhouse—dramatic, playful and energetic.
The mezzanines became pockets of activation–spaces like the pool table and games zone being direct extensions of this staircase. This intervention drastically reduces the footprint of every floor, retaining only the active parts of the programme and eliminating the need for building and finishing of redundant ante-spaces. The atrium wall opens up at strategic locations to create interactions between these various activities.
