At the 2024 edition of the REKA conference organised by the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) in Kuala Lumpur, founding Principal Ambrish Arora spoke about the core values and processes of the practice. Aligning with the conference’s theme ‘Elemental’, Ambrish demonstrated how these core values guide not only our work, but also our behaviour within the studio, and have been fundamental to shaping Studio Lotus as it is today. “In order to tap into the potential of the process we need to move beyond the comfort of our drawing boards. We have to trust the wisdom of the artisans and other stakeholders at site and partner with them to co-author the final outcome.”

The forum brought together diverse perspectives on balancing cultural heritage with innovation, amidst Asia’s growing prominence in a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.
