Studio Lotus crafts Rohit Bal’s boutique as a space where drama meets devotion, an immersive world that echoes the grandeur of his garments. Set across a single floor, the layout flows with intention, drawing function into the shadows and letting light linger where it matters most.
The palette - dull gold, deep greys, and rich woods forms a quiet stage for the clothes to gleam. Bal’s beloved lotus motif blossoms throughout: brass inlays in blue cement floors, lapis lazuli embedded in dark timber, and rusted metal jaalis that hang like whispers from the past.
Light here isn’t just illumination - it’s theatre. Focused OR lamps cast garments in sculptural shadow, while a blown-glass chandelier, born from Bal’s own sketches, anchors the salon in soft opulence. Every element is considered: sculptural mild steel racks cradle the weight of embroidery, mirrors multiply space with elegance, and temple-top brass forms nod to a sacred heritage without crowding the floor.
“The challenge was in the craft,” reflects Principal Ankur Choksi. But with Bal deeply involved, what emerged is more than a boutique—it’s a quiet celebration of Indian-ness, material poetry, and the kind of style that never shouts, only shimmers.
